Deloitte volunteers making an impact at Mercy Community Services

21 Nov 2016

As part of Deloitte Australia’s IMPACT Day on Friday 20 November, which saw more than 3,000 of the company’s 6,000 employees participate in charitable volunteering events for the day, Mercy Community Services was pleased to welcome Deloitte volunteer teams at two of our sites.

On what was a hot Brisbane day, Deloitte volunteers jumped straight in and revitalised a garden area at our Wooloowin site, repainting a wooden screen and planting a garden, enabling the area to now be used by staff during break times. They also cleaned all the site’s pathways, making it appealing for our frequent visitors.

At our Nudgee site, a second IMPACT Day Deloitte’s volunteer team spent the day cleaning up and mulching the gardens around Happy Haven, Bayview and outside the main office building, ensuring we don’t lose any more plants over the coming Summer.

We extend our sincere thanks to all Deloitte volunteers for the positive impact their volunteering work will have on our environment, which will also assist our maintenance team with the work they do in these areas.

Julie Mullen, Fundraising and Corporate Relations Specialist at Mercy Community Services said the success of the volunteering day with the Deloitte teams was helped along by a generous contribution from Bunnings.

“Bunnings Toombul supported the Deloitte IMPACT Day at Mercy Community Services with a generous donation of paint, gloves, paint brushes, plants and a Cantilever umbrella for the Annexe area at the Wooloowin site, which we are thankful for,” Julie said.

“A parent from the Holy Cross Primary School next door also donated a significant number of plants.

“We are grateful for this spirit of generosity and are always keen to secure contributions and build relationships with corporate and community partners to support the work we are doing in local communities that is making a real difference in people’s lives.

“Thanks again to Deloitte and Bunnings for the positive impact they made through their volunteering and donated items,” she said.
