Sunshine Online donates literacy materials for young people

22 Feb 2019

Mercy Community Moreton Bay Foster and Kinship Care (FKC) and Education and Vocation Support Program (EVSP) teams recently identified a need for increased literacy skills in the young people we support.

In response to this, Sunshine Online – a literacy program which includes 650 levelled e-books and 1000 interactive activities that focus on phonics, comprehension, fluency, spelling and writing – has generously offered their online resource to Mercy Community at no cost.

The Sunshine Online program accommodates for reading levels one to 30 and the Mercy Community team will now be able to allocate specific books to young people based on their literacy level. The team is extremely excited to utilise this new tool and is thrilled that the children and young people will be able to access resources from home and practice often with the support of their carers.

Mercy Community would like to thank Sunshine Online for their generosity in donating such a valuable resource that will provide children and young people in care with tools that will benefit them greatly.
